ELA- We are in our review week and will continue to go over the concepts taught over the past 5 weeks until next Wednesday. We are also focusing on our informative writing. We will wrap all of this up next week and have some wonderful writing samples for you to see at conferences!
Math- We have finished our comparing and equivalent fractions unit and will be moving on to adding and subtracting fractions including mixed numbers, next week. The student journal pages were sent home with the class today as math homework. Your child does not need to fill out the pages, just cut and paste them into their journals for next week.
Science- Hopefully the water cycle models made it home safely. Please have your child explain the water cycle to you- this will facilitate learning. The model needs to be placed in a window or outside so the "energy source that drives the water cycle" aka the sun, can provide the energy needed to drive the water cycle. The grass should begin to grow in about 10 days.
Other- SEP Conferences will be held February 15-16th. The online scheduler opened up today. Please log on and select a time that works for you and your family's schedule. I was able to meet with each family in the fall and look forward to meeting with 100% of you again! Grandparents luncheon will also be on February 16th. More information will be sent out as that date approaches. The book fair will also be the week of SEP Conferences. What a great opportunity to reward your child for their hard work!
Thank you,
Ms. Stroud
