We made it through October (almost)! I hope the scares of this weekend treat you and your ghouls and goblins well.
ELA- We have been working on opinion writing and there is a Halloween themed opinion writing assignment for your student to complete tomorrow. (See Below). The Family Times packet for Tops and Bottoms went home yesterday. Please check your child's planner for that packet. Students are asked every afternoon to put their planner in their backpack. After ELA, I instruct the class to place their Family Times in their planners. Once we have completed the math, in the planner it goes!
Math- We did not complete a math lesson today. Monday we will work on 5.6. Topic 5 lessons will be completed on Wednesday, with a review day for Thursday and the OPM the following Monday. Student created flash cards went home yesterday. Please look for them in your child's backpack.
Other- Have you seen our video? It was posted in Canvas under announcements. I will also be posting a class picture of all of our cute monsters holding up their skeletons.
Home-School Talking Points-
1. We had a different STEM teacher yesterday. What did the class do in STEM?
2. The third grade teachers rotated classes today. Why?
3. Three students "graduated" this week. What does that mean?
4. Three students earned first place medals. Why?
Silly Sally-
Silly Sally likes Slurpees but not ice cream. Silly Sally likes cookies but not cake. Silly Sally likes screeching but not screaming. What does Silly Sally like?
Easter Egg- Have your child give me the word "vampire" on Monday for a small treat.
Friday Asynchronous Learning-
The learning module is posted and accessible in Canvas. It is in the "October Friday Asynchronous Learning Opportunities" module under Friday, October 30, 2020. All directions are included in the Google Slides Presentation and were shown and discussed today in class. If you have any questions, please let me know. I will be printing the writing assignment and allowing students to discuss which candy is the best next week.
Happy Halloween!
Ms. Stroud
