I wanted to thank all of you and your children for the grace extended this past week while I have been out. It is always a challenge when there is a substitute. I am feeling better but do have a couple of follow up doctor's appointments between now and the end of the school year. Hopefully this won't be too intrusive as we charge hard to finish third grade strong.
ELA- We have been working on an overall review of skills and concepts taught throughout the school year. Many, if not all, of these standards are repeated and grow in depth and breadth each year. My goal is to ensure that all students are comfortable with the expectations of a third grade learner AND anticipate what is yet to come in 4th grade.
Math- Today we completed the required curriculum provided to us. We will begin the spiral review process next week, spending time on some of the more challenging mathematical concepts for third graders. I can't wait to do some of the fun enrichment activities to extend the thinking of the class.
RISE Testing- Please ensure you child gets a good night's rest over the next couple of weeks. A solid breakfast is also important. I have let the class know that everything they will be assessed on has been taught to them this year. These test scores will follow your child throughout their educational K-12 career. Being tired and hungry are two avoidable obstacles. East Sandy does provide a basic breakfast, for a small fee, if that is something you are interested in. Breakfast doors open at 7:45 A.M.
Home-School Talking Points-
1. What was your child's favorite part of our Sandy City Hall field trip?
2. What did you child learn from our TransJordan Landfill presentation on Tuesday?
3. What types of focusing activities did we do today in class?
Have a wonderful weekend,
Ms. Stroud
