ELA- We have started the Unit 5 text set Elizabeth Leads the Way. This is a great introduction to biographies and a fun, interesting story. Speaking of biographies, if your child selects a biography book prior to the 22nd, please send it in to be approved and reserved. Please, please, please encourage your child to select a book early so they may begin reading it sooner rather than later.
Math- We are well into the second half of our second fractions topic. The OPM will be next Friday. This concept is quite rushed in our enVision curriculum. If you get a chance to show your child measuring cups, a measuring tape, or even just talking about halves, thirds, quarters, it really helps.
Other- We will be making seating changes in the lunchroom next week. I had intended to speak with the class and use their help to find a fun, yet respectful seating arrangement in the lunchroom. We have had several students absent this week and with me being out sick as well, haven't been able to complete a new seating chart. If you have the opportunity to discuss with your kiddo who they could sit by and be respectful in the lunchroom, this will help when we work together to come up with a chart next week.
Home-School Talking Points-
1. I was out ill for 2.5 days this week. Which sub did your child find the most engaging?
2. How are the math fact timings going? Is your child reaching their individual goal?
3. During our grade-level Blooket time, how often is a student from our class in the lead? (Hint: Every. Single. Time.)
Enjoy your weekend,
Ms. Stroud
