ELA- Last week we started into our Reading Street curriculum. Our firs story is Charlie McButton. We will be taking our "OPM" (Opportunity to Prove Mastery" for this first story on Wednesday. Don't worry, I will walk through the assessment process with the class, giving them a teacher perspective of how to take a computerized test. I have done this for many years and have found it to be beneficial for the students. It helps them with future Reading Street tests as well as giving them confidence on this first test. Testing will be on Wednesdays. I will explain more about that at Back to School Night. On Thursday, we will begin our next unit, What About Me?
Math- We started the first lesson in our EnVision math textbook. The first 4 topics are on multiplication. I have set up Reflex Math accounts for the students and will be going over those expectations this next week with the class.
Other- We made it through the first 3 days of school! Next week is a 5 day week. We will begin our "Brain Booster" rotations this Tuesday and Thursday. Back to School Night will be Tuesday, August 28th at 6:00 p.m.
Home-School Talking Points-
1. What was my fiction statement?
2. What is the math game "I Have Who Has"?
3. We have a slightly new lunch procedure (except for my students from last year- the school is following something we implemented in January). How is is different?
4. We took a tour of the building on Wednesday. Which grade levels have moved locations?
Have a fabulous evening,
Ms. Stroud
