ELA- We will be testing RS 4.2.4 Horse Heroes on Wednesday, November 2. Wow, November. The last reading story in Unit 2 is called So, You Want to Be President. Perfect timing. As your children left the building yesterday, two students and I stood by the door (think warden and 2 guards) and handed out the bags of popcorn and their writing assignments. I have attached two pages to the front. The first page is the rubric that went home earlier this month. Please fill out the first one. My name is on the top of the second copy for me to assign a final grade. This will be the primary piece of writing used to give a Narrative Writing Grade on the upcoming report card. Each child has had access to this from the beginning of the writing assignment and we have discussed it in detail during class. All writing has been completed in their CSDdocs account. If changes need to be made, please have your kiddo do them this weekend. The second page is more of a checklist for your child and a peer to review the writing piece. This is due on Monday, October 31. I have uploaded the entire writing assignment, if you find that a "ghost" has mysteriously snatched the assignment from the depths of your munchkins backpack (I've been told by many students that this happens!). On Monday, we will also be performing our Halloween readers theater. If your kiddo would like to bring in a prop for this, that would be fantastic!
Math- We have finished multiplication! Wahoo!!! Next week, we will begin long division. There are only a handful of students that have not completed the multiplication OPM, and after glancing at most of the tests, I am quite pleased!
Halloween- The parade will begin inside the school around 8:45, then proceed outside to the track at about 9:00. the 4th grade will be the last grade in the line, so please be patient. Your child should come to school with their costume already on and with a change of clothes. Our Halloween party will be in the morning, after the parade. I will be sending the donuts from the PTA home with your kiddo at the end of the day. As a reminder, no weapons or pictures of weapons are allowed on school grounds and masks may be carried but not worn during the parade.
Thank you for sharing your children with me this year,
Ms. Stroud
