The next couple of weeks is primarily going to be focused on reviewing concepts taught in third grade, and reteaching as necessary to ensure that all students are fully prepared to enter the fourth grade in the fall. Wow, it's hard to believe we are now wrapping up our 2018-2019 school year!
Math- Math will consist of a geometry assessment on Tuesday, then working on the Step Up to Fourth Grade section in the student textbooks. As I looked over this material, about half of the lessons we have already discussed and the students are fluent with, so this will be a breeze! I will be running worksheets to go along with the concepts in the Step Up section. They will look a bit different than the Pearson enVision homework assignments but should take about the same amount of time. This will also give you an opportunity to get a "sneak peek" at what some of the concepts are in the fourth grade core curriculum.
Home School Talking Points-
1. We celebrated 2 student's birthdays this past week. Who turned 9 and who will turn 9?
2. We started a class book project. What is the theme?
3. All of our students have completed the RISE end of level assessment. Wahoo! How does your kiddo feel about the effort they put into the test? In the past, the District has send out information during the summer letting parents know when they are able to review their child's scores online through the Skyward portal.
Kickball tournament- The third grade will be playing in a kickball tournament this week and next. We did this in 2nd grade and the kids enjoyed the fresh air and the friendly competition. Now that the Capture the Flag competition has concluded, we are moving on to another sport. Please have your child wear appropriate footwear for kicking and running.
Silly Sally-
Silly Sally likes stirring but not mixing. Silly Sally likes sipping but not slurping. Silly Sally likes swimming but not floating. What does Silly Sally like?
Enjoy your evening,
Ms. Stroud
