ELA- We are currently working on Carl the Complainer in Reading Street. The key lesson concepts went home in the Family Times packet on Wednesday. On Thursday, we will begin the next story in Reading Street. That will be Bad Dog, Dodger! It will continue through Spring Break and into the following week. We have finished our final District required writing assessment. I have proposed a couple of fun final writing projects to the class and hope to have one selected sometime this week! :-)
Math- Topic 11 is completed and in the books! Topic 12 introduces measurement, including both the customary and metric systems. Measurement is a fun topic to teach and hopefully your child will share their enjoyment of math with you as well.
Science- We have begun our weather unit. Utah is the perfect region for weather. We are considered a "temperate" state because we have 4 clear and distinct seasons. Love, love, love science!!!
Other- Spring Break will be next week- April 2nd thru 6th. Please encourage your child to read over the break. Believe it or not, I really can tell which kiddos read at home and which don't. Red Ribbon Week starts today, so expect some interesting talking points about children staying drug, tobacco, and alcohol free.
Home-School Talking Points-
1. How many ways can your child subtract 3 digit numbers? Traditional Algorithm, Breaking apart/Partial Differences, Base Ten/Place Value Blocks, Using a Number Line to Subtract, Using a Number Line to Add Up.
2. Who is your child's first Prodigy Battle Buddy? We will begin our Prodigy Playoff Championship this week to determine who our class champion will be. Will that be your student?
3. One student has figured out our Silly Sally Riddle. Who?
4. Silly Sally likes ribbons but not lace. Silly Sally likes to sleep but not to close her eyes. Silly Sally likes to yell but not to scream.
Thank you,
Ms. Stroud
