ELA- We will be continuing the RS 3.3.1 How Do You Raise a Raisin? and assess those skills this Wednesday. This does give us the extra couple of days to solidify the concepts presented. It also gives us a little more breathing room for our cursive instruction.
Math- On Monday, we started Topic 8, which teaches addition and subtraction through 1,000. This Topic will continue through this week and into next. Students that have progressed through the Math Skills packets of addition and subtraction should easily breeze through both Topics 8 and 9. This is a great time to pumpkin pie have your child complete a few extra addition and subtraction problems, if they are still working on those early skills in their packets. Ultimately, understanding the algorithm and seeing the patterns is what we are looking for.
Other- As the temperatures begin to drop, please help your child remember to bring the proper outerwear to school. We go outside as often as we can for recess and it isn't any fun when you're cold and/or wet. As a friendly mom reminder, it really helps when clothing is labeled with your kiddo's name, even if it is just a last name. You'd be surprised how many students can claim the same jacket or not one at all!
Thankful- Thanksgiving is always a blessed time for me. I enjoy thinking of everything I have in my life that others may not. This includes your children. Several times already, I have thought about our students. The little things they say, sweet notes they write, and funny stories they tell. Thank you for sharing your cute children with me. They have become a part of my life and I am grateful to be a part of their educational career.
Molly's Pilgrim- Hopefully your child was able to learn about someone in your family that they can call a pilgrim. The printed information sheet went home last Monday and is also on Canvas. Just as a reminder, projects are due Monday, December 6th, including the decorated doll and the questions in Canvas.
Silly Sally- Silly Sally likes pepper but not salt. Silly Sally likes red ribbons but not red bows. What does Silly Sally like?
Happy Thanksgiving,
Ms. Stroud
