ELA- We will be assessing our poetry unit skills, week 5 on Tuesday, then begin the Unit 5 week 6 review week. This review week will also give us a chance to complete our final writing strand, informational and expository writing.
Math- On Tuesday, we will begin our final topic in math. Topic 16 discusses perimeter and brings in the previously learned skill of area. Topic 16 will take a couple of weeks to complete, then we will begin our year long review of all third grade math concepts.
Spirit Week- Monday is hat day. Students may wear a hat to school, and on our field trip. Please check your child's planner for the green flyer that went home detailing each spirit day attire.
Field Trip- Our first field trip will be on Monday. We have asked that students bring an empty backpack with only their planner in it. Students may also bring a water bottle and light jacket. The weather should be pleasant, but just in case it gets breezy, jackets are nice to have. Monday morning, I will have students place their lunch, jacket, water bottle, and water cycle water bottles in their backpacks to take with us on the bus. Parent volunteers, please remember to bring a lunch for you and water to drink.
Wax Museum- Our Wax Museum will be this Friday. Parents are invited to view the museum from 8:45-9:15 Friday morning. Please send your child dressed in character with a change of clothes in their backpack. Tri-fold presentation boards are also due on Friday. If your student has already completed their presentation and would like to show it off for our STEAM Showcase on Tuesday evening, please have it at school tomorrow or Tuesday for us to set up.
Field Trip Water Cycle Project- I will be guiding the grade in creating our water cycle project on Monday. The only thing that will need to be done at home is to add water to the bottom bottle, about 2 inches. Because the project isn't sealed, I have found it "less messy" to have students do this at home instead of risk a spill on the way home. Then put it in the sun and watch the process unfold. It really is a pretty cool little project.
Home-School Talking Points-
1. How is the ELA practice RISE test going?
2. How was the substitute last week?
3. What did the class do in art Brain Boosters on Wednesday?
Hope your weekend was fun,
Ms. Stroud
