ELA- For the next two weeks, we will be working on RS 3.6.1 The Story of the Statue of Liberty. The extended unit of study will give us time to learn the skills and concepts while also preparing for end of level RISE testing. We will continue to work on our informative writing skills as well.
Math- We are about half of the way through our final Topic in math, perimeter. Students often confuse area and perimeter, so we will be wrapping area into our lessons to refresh those skills.
Field Trip- Our upcoming field trip to Thanksgiving Point's Museum of Natural Curiosity will be on Tuesday. We will plan to load the buses around 930 and be on our way by 945. So far, it looks like we are going to luck out again and have beautiful weather on this field trip as well. Fingers crossed! We will be playing and eating at a park prior to our exploration of the museum. Students may want to bring a hat and jacket and wear sunscreen that day. Please send your child with their backpack. We will be placing lunches in the backpack, along with their water bottles, jackets, and hats. If your child would like to bring a ball, chalk, or bubbles to the park, it must also fit shark inside of their backpack. We will be leaving our backpacks on the bus once we arrive at Thanksgiving Point.
Wax Museum- Students have been working hard on their Adobe Spark presentations this week. If they are not complete, please have your child work on it today. Instructions for the tri-fold were included with the initial packet, which can also be found on Canvas. Please follow those instructions and have your kiddo come to school on Friday, April 29th dressed as their famous person with their tri-fold. We will be set-up and ready for parents to visit our museum by 9:00 AM that morning. We will have a parent only debut from 9-930, then invite the rest of the student body to take a stroll through our museum. We will clean up at 11 and return to the classroom to change and get ready for lunch.
Home-School Talking Points-
1. What was something your child learned from the Trans-Jordan Landfill? What was the best part?
2. What was something your child learned at City Hall? What was the best part? We held a vote on how the Council should spend $1 million dollars. Did your child vote for a Ninja Warrior playground or new Ladder Truck? Why?
3. Has your child completed the Mustang Ranger Notebook? If so, please have them turn it in for a prize.
Silly Sally- Silly Sally likes Trigg but not Smoke. Silly Sally likes sneezing but not coughing. Silly Sally likes ladders but not elevators. What does Silly Sally like?
Thank you,
Ms. Stroud
