ELA- We have started Unit 4. The first text set is Clementine. This realistic fiction story always brings back memories of when my kids were younger and reading to them. In writing, we are working on opinion/argumentative pieces and how to take a position once provided with information from a text.
Math- We completed Topic 10 and on Monday will begin Topic 11, which focuses on multi-step word problems. The homework will look slightly different with every other day being the typical green page followed by an opportunity for your child to write a word problem on their own. I will be collecting these samples to create a Talking Book. The kids LOVE doing this but it cannot be accomplished without your help. Please review your student's story problems for accuracy before sending them back to school.
How-To Project- A quick reminder that the How-To Projects are due Monday, February 5th. The pages in the packet and uploaded images need to be ready for us to create our videos. To access your child's Google Drive account, they will login the same way they do here at school, using the username and password on the mailing label in their planners and on the Snow Day/Virtual Learning Day packets sent home in December. The only addition is that you will use @csddocs.org instead of @gmail.com.
Home-School Talking Points-
1. We are working on our City-scape array project. What does that look like?
2. We practiced an emergency fire drill today. With the new bell tones, what was different?
3. What is Line Tag and how is it played?
Have a wonderful weekend,
Ms. Stroud
