ELA- We began our next text set in the Wonders curriculum. The genre is a fairy tale and titled Clever Jack Takes the Cake. Fairy Tales typically have magical characters and/or events, take place long ago or far away, and have a happy ending. This is a fun story and great one to read the week before Spring Break.
Biography Books/Wax Museum- Students that had not yet selected a famous person to read about were given a choice of grade level books today. All students now have a book and the accompanying 7 question packet. I will be giving additional time next week to read the books in class and work on the packet. Many students have been reading their books over the last month and are almost finished. Wow! Keep up the great work!
Math- We are in the middle of our measurement unit. We should conclude those lessons next week, then take a couple of days after Spring Break to review time, primarily elapsed time, then assess after that. This is a fun topic to incorporate at home with baking and measuring, and an easy one to work with on elapsed time.
Field Trip Notes- I sent home field trip notes today. As a reminder, students selected their lunch choice at conferences and permission slips were signed. You do not need to return any part of the note. Please keep the form for reference on upcoming dates. For both the April and May field trips, we will plan to leave East Sandy around 9:00 and return around 2:00. Please look ahead in your schedules and adjust as necessary to ensure your kiddo is able to attend these two incredible field trip opportunities. If you indicated you would be able to chaperone on our field trips, THANK YOU! Please go to the district website and fill out the volunteer approval form. It takes about 2 minutes to fill out and then allows you to tag along for a fun time learning with and helping our class.
Home School Talking Points-
1. Whose birthday did we celebrate today?
2. We earned our Mystery Motivator for behavior in our brain booster classes. What did we earn?
3. In STEM, students are working on a stop motion project. What is the topic of your child's group?
